Pamela Wallin, Canadian Consul General to New York

The Prime Minister of Canada appointed Pamela to the position of Consul General of Canada to New York after 9/11. She served a four year term from 2002-2006, during one of the most challenging times in the relationship between the two nations.

Here is a typical of the hundreds of speeches she gave stateside during her time as Consul General in New York. Pamela always focused on our complicated and often misunderstood relationship with the US, and that both countries needed to know more about the other – particularly just how valuable we are to each other in terms of trade, and as important - that we are friends and allies like no other. Prior to her appointment, in 2001, Pamela Wallin was one of the organizers of the "Canada Loves New York" rally for Canadians to show their support to neighbouring Americans after the September 11 attacks.

In 2003, Pamela was honoured by the Canadian Society of New York for her ongoing commitment to strengthening the ties between Canada and the United States and in 2006, she became a senior advisor to the president of the Americas Society and the Council of the Americas in New York.
